Bose says customers can still create an account later from the settings menu if they wish. Most headphone makers weren’t being nearly as pushy as Bose about making an account you don’t have to create one to use apps from Sony, Sennheiser, Jabra, and so on. (Bose previously had this help article up for customers with “privacy concerns regarding data collection and account information” - but acknowledged that headphone functionality would be “limited” for people who didn’t give in and use the app.)

The update notes for the latest version of Bose Music on iOS say “when you set up your Bose headphones and earbuds, you can skip creating an account and get right to enjoying your product.” That’s the way it ought to be. Now Bose is doing away with the needlessly annoying mandatory account. So if you wanted to, say, customize the noise cancellation of the Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 or QuietComfort Earbuds, you’d have to make a Bose account just to access those important controls. Which would make sense, you could pre-populate the majority of the information of the device in question (especially serial number), and like Apple, could even run a remote diagnostic. However, I’d prefer if I could do that from the app. I recently had a warranty issue with my sunglasses, it wasn’t an issue in terms of being able to submit a claim online and had the problem resolved ASAP. Lastly, I’d like to be able to contact Bose from the app, rather than have to go online. Another suggestion is (for the Bose Sunglasses product) to prioritise quality over distance from source device. Right now, you’re limited to the app letting you know when you need an update.

Only feedback, and this is really nit-picky, is I’d like a manual button to check for updates and a way to check if I indeed have the most current software.
Switch things up a bit including some radio stations. I like that it has its own music and playlists you can use.
